Expressions of Interest for Sewing Workshop
Introductory to sewing, for beginners and those who love sewing.
We are asking for expressions of interest for Days listed below this class will run once a month dates to be advised.
We’re excited to introduce our new Intro to Sewing Series — a friendly, hands-on course designed for all sewers who want to learn practical sewing skills and get more from their sewing machines.
What you’ll learn
How to create a pair of comfortable pajama pants (measuring, cutting, elastic waist, side seams, hem)
How to sew a basic skirt (simple waistband, darts/gathers as needed, hemming)
Fundamental sewing techniques: fabric selection, grainlines, seam allowances, pressing, finishing seams, and basic troubleshooting
How to read a simple pattern and adjust fit
Tips to use and maintain your sewing machine for these projects
Who it’s for
All sewers.
New machine owners who want confidence using their equipment
Sewists looking to refresh foundational techniques
Class format
Small class sizes for plenty of individual attention
Step-by-step demonstrations followed by supervised hands-on practice
Materials list provided before class (we can advise on fabrics and notions)
Time for Q&A and one-on-one help with fit and machine settings
Bring your machine and we’ll help you set it up, showing the stitch settings and presser feet that make these projects easier. If you don’t yet have a sewing machine and are thinking of buying one, bring your questions! We’ll talk through which models are best suited for these projects and how to get the most from the machine you choose.
